World Mental Health Day

Empathy, help, mental help awareness

Mabanaft Stands in Solidarity with World Mental Health Day and OCD Awareness Week.

Today, as we mark World Mental Health Day, we join the global community in recognising the significance of this day for mental health education, awareness, and the ongoing battle against social stigma. First initiated in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health, this annual event serves as a reminder of the importance of mental well-being.

We understand the critical importance of nurturing the mental well-being of our employees. To this end, we have established a dedicated Mental Health First Aid Team comprising staff members from both our UK and Hamburg offices. These compassionate individuals have volunteered their time and have undergone training accredited by Mental Health First Aid England. They provide confidential, non-judgmental support to our colleagues worldwide.

Mabanaft places a premium on the well-being of its employees, offering a range of resources to support their general mental and physical health. Supporting the well-being of our employees is not limited to a single day of action. Our Health & Wellbeing team views World Mental Health Day as a catalyst for a year-long effort, dedicated to making continuous changes that bolster the well-being of every team member.

In addition to World Mental Health Day, this week also marks Mental Health OCD Awareness Week, running from October 10th to 16th, 2023. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a form of anxiety disorder characterised by uncontrollable obsessive thoughts and accompanying compulsive behaviours.

We all have moments of double-checking if we've locked a door or turned off a light, but for those with OCD, these thoughts and behaviours can become overwhelming and disruptive. At Mabanaft, we recognise the importance of promoting awareness and understanding of mental health conditions like OCD. We encourage anyone affected by these issues to seek help and support from medical professionals.

Together, let us continue to cultivate a workplace culture of empathy, inclusivity, and open dialogue, where every team member feels valued and supported in their mental well-being journey.
